Which is the lesser of two evils? I can say I’ve had two (2) root cannels. No biggie, really. They coked me up so much on Novocain I was slurring speech and drooling for hours afterwards. Pain? What pain?
Spinning class, on the other hand, is a different story. It really depends on the instructor for organized classes. I can attend classes free at my gym as part of my membership. One (1) instructor is an avid cyclist, appreciates better music, and has a tolerable classes. Other instructors are glorified aerobics instructors who teach their class in that manner. In other words, they suck. I doubt they've ever spend enough time on a real bike to go more than single digit miles per ride.
I do plan on attending some classes regardless. In addition, I plan to put some hours on the “bike to no where” on my own. It’s time to get significant, consecutive hours, saddle time. Oh boy am I looking forward to that – not.
Spring is a long way off. I’m looking forward to even the windy spring days compared to spinning classes. I’d much rather grind away going into the wind than be stuck on the electro-magnetic-torqued out bikes in the spinning room. THIS might be more fun.
I do have some early season events coming up. The Royal 162 is one(1) in particular. Train or suffer on the gravel roads of southern Minnesota. I pick train. As boring as I know it is going to be.
Ride On.
Ride On.

Its the means to an end man. We've been lucky that getting outside here is still possible, but during the week its tough for me to find the time and energy to suit up for 1-2 hours of outside riding so I choose the trainer. I'm of the opinion that spin classes suck as a rule of thumb and only a competent cycling instructor can make them tolerable and thats pushing it. I'd much rather sit in my basement and watch stuff like the national parks documentary.
Haha - I made is :20 on that doing nothing for 2 minutes site! Spin class is HARD! But makes you so strong for spring.
I did one spin class many years ago. That was about the time I bought a trainer. Both are out of my life now and I do my training in the gym.
Also time has been at a premium lately. My legal work forces me to spend an inordinate amount of time working on the Sam Adams cases.
